The best Rachel Zoe parody ever

I've been having a hell of a time trying to watch the new season of The Rachel Zoe Project. The new season is only airing in the U.S. and is not available on iTunes Canada. Therefore I have had to resort to more sinister means of acquiring the series. You all know what I mean. And in the process, my poor computer has come in contact with several viruses, some of which are still lingering. But it's all worth it because I finally discovered how to get the show.

This season is really different from the last one; Rachel has moved her studio to a loft, there are a lot more employees, Taylor and Brad actually get along and there is even more drama.

But I think I have found my new favourite pastime: watching Rachel Zoe parodies.

Comedian Beth Crosby writes, produces and stars in The Rachel Zoe Project Parody and she is brilliant. She enunciates "may-jor" with the right Zoe flair, she wears the huge sunnies and she even bats her eyelashes in the exact same way Zoe does.

The people who play Taylor and Brad are also hilarious; "Brad" has an awesome meltdown and Taylor feigns disinterest at everything.

Can't believe it's here....been waiting so long like this. Rachel Zoe, where have you been all my life? Finally, The Rachel Zoe Project Season 2 is premiering tonight! I think it's only in the U.S. though but that's what bit torrent is for!

Up until a few weeks ago, I have been in serious Rachel Zoe withdrawal. But then she launched her website and I signed up for her daily newsletter where she promotes her favourite products.

But you must watch this crazy, fabulous woman. I can't believe that it's taken this long for her to be on TV because she's so much fun to watch and her assistants, Brad and Taylor, are hilarious.

So for your viewing pleasure, here is a clip of this season!

Buy a piece of Zoe

If you've been a follower of this blog than you know that I am a huge fan of Rachel Zoe and her show The Rachel Zoe Project which I am happy to say is renewed for a second season.
If you watched the show you would remember that Zoe said she thinking about starting her own line of clothes and accessories. This was more than a year ago and I never heard a whisper about this actually coming to fruition. Until now!
People magazine has confirmed with Zoe that she is working on her own affordable fashion line which includes clothes, jewelry, bags and fragrances. Details about the line is still secret but I really hope that it reflects her style: glamorous and fun. Her motto is all about dressing up everyday even if you're just going to work or to a casual lunch; it's all about having a red carpet moment.
I really hope she does shoes because her taste in footwear is amazing; always super high heels (at least 5 inches) that really stand out.
For clothes I hope she does a mix of fun Cali wear like flirty dresses but also tailored suits that you can wear to work or to a party.

But my question to you is: Would you buy from the Rachel Zoe fashion line?

There are a lot of people who don't like her style specifically the bug sunnies, the leggings, the platforms and the flowy shirts; but Rachel understands that women have all kinds of body shapes and she doesn't dress her clients in just one style.

So I'm excited to see what she comes up with.

Fashionista is reporting that the Rachel Zoe Project is coming out with a Season 2 starting mid-next year.
Now I want to know when Season 1 is coming out on DVD.

The L.A. Times says:

I die. I die. Our favorite fashionista is coming back.

Bravo tells us exclusively that the network has ordered up a second season of "The Rachel Zoe Project," the behind-the-scenes reality show following Zoe as she styles celebs, keeps the peace between her feuding assistants and goes on mad vintage-store shopping sprees.

Production has not yet begun, but expect new episodes of "Rachel Zoe," produced by Original Media, to air in mid-2009.

No word yet on whether on-and-off-again rivals Brad and Taylor will be back, but as of October, when I last spoke to Zoe, both were still happily employed.

At the time, Zoe thought Taylor was getting "a bad rap" from viewers, who took issue with Taylor talking back to the boss lady. "Taylor's tough, she keeps me focused. She's there to tell me no, because I'm really bad at saying no," Zoe said. "But I need her to do that. I'd be lost without her."

Bravo also will be unveiling several new series on Thursday.

Now all the network needs to do is tell us when "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" comes back and my Christmas wish list will be complete. And that would be, as Zoe might say, "bananas amazing."

I can't wait to see Taylor and Brad duking it out over nipple covers and garment bags. And will Rachel hire a third assistant like she promised Taylor? Will Rodger be able to pay off all of Rachel's debt? I need these questions answered!

So I bought the Yves Saint Laurent Muse Two

From overstock.com. Even though I swore to myself that I would not buy anything for myself until after Christmas. But it called my name. And there was only one left! How could I say no to my new Holy Grail bag? I just couldn't pass this by.

This isn't the original YSL Muse Two I wanted to get; at first I wanted to get the embossed Crocodile version but I realized that I like this one better. As I was clicking the checkout option I could hear Rachel Zoe and her assistant Brad enabling me to just get it, even if it costs more than rent. This is why we have economic problems. It's all my fault! Damn you credit cards!

Top things I love about Rachel Zoe

I've been thinking about Rachel Zoe a lot this past week. Yes, it's strange and borderline obsessive but I can't get her crazy fur-wearing bug-eyed ass out of my head.

I blame it on not being able to find episode 5 of her show to download. Seriously, if anyone knows where to get a Rachel Zoe Project torrent for episode 5, please send me the link.

I feel really deprived of her craziness, Brad's total cuteness and Taylor's bitchiness.

So after I got home from work, I re-watched a couple episodes to feed the void.

You may ask me why I am so crazy about this woman who many call the cause of the economic woes we're having (maybe rightfully so. The woman does love her credit cards.)

But I think the reason why I love watching her is because she is a fantasy and leads a glamorous, fantastical life where there are no consequences for shopping till you drop.

I've compiled a completely random, spur-of-the-moment list of why I love Rachel Zoe.

1. Her shopping rampages in vintage stores. Like the time she went to Decades and bought a Birkin on the spur of the moment.

2. Her girlishness even though she's in her late 30s. I love how she gets so excited over clothes that she acts like she just got a marriage proposal.

3. Her disorganization. She never knows what's going on even though she has three assistants and still manages to be the top celeb stylist.

4. The way she lies to her husband Rodger about how many clothes she has bought. Come on, we all lie when we go on massive shopping sprees. I can relate!

5. Her passion for fashion. Fashion comes first for her and it's refreshing to see that she still loves it after all these years and hasn't become cynical or jaded.

6. Her over-the-top way of dressing. I don't always like what she wears but I do think she is an original. She is the original original before everyone started dressing like her. She is a caricature of herself.

7. The way she says "Oh. My. God. I die." And just stands there looking at a vintage something with her mouth wide open.

8. The wrinkles around her mouth and eyes. In a city where everyone gets botox, liposuction, injections and anything else to try to keep themselves looking young, it's refreshing to see Zoe age gracefully without feeling insecure about a few lines on her face. Thank God.

9. Her selfishness and her materialistic needs. So who cares whether she runs thousands of dollars on her husband's credit card? He's not my husband! It's not my money! It's so freaking fun to watch.

Rachel Zoe Project Ep.2: The flood!

This episode lived up to that greatness that was the first. We have a flood which caused hundred-thousand dollar dresses to be damaged, we have a fitting scheduled but a flight with options stuck in Tennessee, we have a sick Taylor and a harassed Brad. I new knew how chaotic it can be for stylists and their minions.
It's funny how Zoe represents the extreme superficiality in all of us girls. She wants to buy new furniture for a photo shoot a magazine is doing of her house, even though she just bought furniture two years ago. She redecorates an entire space with Fendi's home line Club House Italia (think $13,000 couches and alligator closets) because she's "bored" of her "old" furniture. Materialistic? Yes. Shallow? Yes. But damn it's fun to watch this woman shop.
Next week we get to see her go ape shit at Fashion Week. I can't wait!

Anne Hathaway has been looking verryyy red carpet worthy lately, perhaps it's the magical touch of Rachel Zoe, her new stylist. Hathaway attended the Los Angeles premiere of Rachel Getting Married at the Writer’s Guild Theater in Beverly Hills on Monday night looking fabulous in a Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress from the designers Resort 2009 collection. Must have this Marc by Marc Jacobs bag

I re-watched The Rachel Zoe Project this morning because I can't get enough of it. So many beautiful clothes, so much girlishness, so much fun.
This time around I paid a bit more attention when Zoe spoke and I picked up on the not-so-subtle ad placement where she talks about her contribution to piperlime.com, the online retailer that's owned by Gap Inc.
Piperlime offers a special section called Rachel Zoe's Picks. The company sends her bags and shoes and she decides whether she likes them or not and they list those accessories for sale on the site. Apparently, according to Zoe, they sell out "in like an hour."

So I decided to go online and check it out. I wasn't feeling the shoes so much because there are a lot of platforms which aren't my style so I checked out the bags. And lo and behold I came upon this beauty. Made by Marc by Marc Jacobs, it's called the Dr Q Lil Riz and it's made of leather with a textile lining. I love that the bag has a bit of structure even though it's slouchy. The pleats are really cute and I like the handle; perfect for wearing it on my arm. The colour (dark portobello) is a great neutral that can match with a lot of colours. I die for it.

"I die" over Rachel Zoe

I have found my new obsession: The Rachel Zoe Project. The show premiered on Tuesday but I didn't get to watch it till today. And holy crap I love it. Rachel is so different on tv than the media portrays her. She's funny, she's girly, she has amazing style and best of all, she is passionate about fashion.

I think one of the best parts of the show is how crazy she gets when she finds a dress or bag or jewelry that she just has to buy no matter what the cost. It's fun to watch her go shopping for herself and for her celeb clients. You get to see gorgeous one-of-a-kind designer dresses like Valentino and Zac Posen and you get taken for a shopping trip to Decades, the best vintage store in the world, where Zoe picks up her third Birkin (which she calls a "Birk.")

But the other stars of the show are her two assistants, Taylor and Brad. Taylor is a stressed-out mess who takes out her frustration on newly-hired, ex-Vogue intern Brad, who dresses like he just came out of a Lacoste ad every day. Poor Brad gets yelled at when he's not getting the silent treatment from Taylor.

Also, Zoe's husband/"business manager" Rodger is in the show. His role is reduced to telling his wife that she shouldn't spend so much money.

We also learn that Zoe is thinking about branding her name into a line of accessories, perfume, home and clothing lines. So basically she would be selling bug glasses, caftans and 8-inch high heels but I'm sure they would look fierce.

I think what I love most about the show is how young Zoe seems even though she's been working in fashion for 15 years. She is still in love with her job after all this time and squeals like a girl getting her first designer bag whenever she sees something she likes. It's fun to watch and I can't wait to see more!

Rachel Zoe's best and worst dressed clients

The Rachel Zoe Project, which I've talked about before, premieres on Bravo Tuesday, Sept. 9. Most of us don't really know that much about it except that she dressed Nicole Richie in sack dresses (the two had a falling out and don't speak now) and her list of clients include Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway, Mischa Barton and, most famously, Lindsay Lohan.
So while I am interested in the show and in learning more about Zoe's personal life, I feel that I should be focusing more on what she dresses her clients in, whether they be beautiful or God-awful.

So I compiled a few of the best and worst-dressed ZoeBots.


Best: Anne Hathaway

Take this, Miranda! Anne has made the transformation from a teen queen to a A-lister with clout and wants the world to know it. This Atelier Versace ball gown shows us that she is an important actress with style.

Worst: Debra Messing

Debra looks like a frumpy mess. Did she just get out of bed and fling on this bathrobe lying on the floor? She looks awkward and uncomfortable.

Best: Keira Knightley

Thank God we don't see Keira's ribs in this cute frock. It actually looks like she has a waist and curves. She looks young in this dress when normally she looks like a 40-year-old.


Worst: Joy Bryant

We feel that this Pucci dress would give someone a seizure. The cut of the outfit is not flattering on Joy's body. Show us some skin!

Best: Jennifer Garner

This black beauty is a show stopper. Usually stylists don't like to dress celebs in black because the colour doesn't photograph well but this one stands out because of it's shiny details and ruffled hemline. It's not the most memorable dress but it's a safe choice for the red carpet.

Worst: Cameron Diaz

This dress is more suitable for Miley Cyrus. It's too girly and cutesy for a mature woman like Cam to be wearing. Plus all that red makes her look like she has a fever.

Best: Mischa Barton

Maybe Zoe read the bad press Mischa has been getting about her supposed cellulite and decided the actress better cover up her bum. It works. The dress is flirty and cute and totally appropriate for a young celebrity. Plus the Louboutins are killer.


Worst: Nicole Richie


Although Richie is no longer a client of Zoe's, Nicole still dresses as if Zoe was still her stylist. She never deviates from wearing those sack dresses which try to hide her boniness. We get that maybe a tight-fitting dress wouldn't flatter Richie, but we're tired of seeing the same ugly dress everytime she leaves her house.

Best: Lindsay Lohan

Normally Lindsay dresses with her boobs hanging out but this outfit is elegant but the pleats and ruffles make it fun. And at least she is wearing a bra.

The Rachel Zoe Project: A reality show I actually want to watch

Rachel Zoe has been given a lot of flack for her appearance (ahem, Perez Hilton) but the woman sure knows how to dress celebrities, and they don't all wear Nicole Richie sacks.
The celeb stylist has a new reality show premiering on Bravo on Sept. 8 called The Rachel Zoe Project, where the cameras follow her around as she dresses her clients, picks out dresses, shoes, handbags and jewelry and baby-talks to her husband, Rodger.
Initially I was hesitant about this show because I've heard so much negative comments about Zoe's personality (she's a crazy, mean bitch, allegedly), and I was never into the bug-eye glasses, sack dresses and leggings as seen on Zoe clones Nicole, Lindsay and Mischa. But she also dresses Joy Bryant who always looks effortlessly beautiful as well as Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Garner, and those ladies always look chic and confident.

The preview for the show has me hooked. Not only does it feature fabulous people such as Peter Som, Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen, but Zoe is actually a likable person. She seems...human! Her love of fashion is endearing and cute to watch as she gasps over finding a gorgeous ring or giggling over a too-tight dress. I think many women will be able to relate to her, and if not, at least be able to ogle mega celebrities and gorgeous clothes.
And if you don't like Zoe, her airtime is shared with her two assistants, Taylor and the Ralph Lauren-loving Brad who bicker like school girls and get to do glamorous tasks such as find the right shade of nipple covers.
It's funny, it's cute, it's got fabulous clothes and cool characters. Watch it.
