Christian Dior Couture Fall 2008 soundtrack

Got this off Bryanboy. This was the music that played while the models walked down the runway. Listen to it and see if you can picture the models moving in their beatiful gowns to this haunting music. The effect must have been mesmerizing.

Chanel Couture Fall 2008

As I was looking through this collection, it seemed that each look kept getting more detailed and elegantly outrageous. This collection does not have the flamboyancy of the Dior show, nor does it need it. It's beauty comes with the perfectly tailored suits, the new silhouettes and shapes (the new focus is below the waist) and the spectacular materials (cone-shaped beads and crystals.)
Lagerfeld once again reinvented the Chanel look with bold, super-high shoulders, wide sleeves in the shape of armour and shredded dresses. In other words, this isn't your typical Chanel woman (some of the models were posing as if they were about to fling open their jackets and do a seductive dance.)

But it is this constant reinvention that keeps the brand fresh and timely. It oozed sex appeal in the most unlikely places: the cowel necks made you want to peep down the model's neck and the boxy arms and shoulders had a robot-like sensuality. Karl just makes you wanting more.

Dior Couture Fall 2008

John Galliano's inspiration for this collection was model Lisa Fonssagrives, the wife of photographer Irving Penn. And you can see Fonssagrives imprinted everywhere, from the cinched dramatic waist, the contrasting colours, the dark makeup and the arched eyebrows.
Critics such as Sarah Mower at Style.com, also saw Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in the clothes and indeed I could see the fashionable First Lady having luncheon with the Queen in these clothes (just as long as she remembers to wear panties underneath the sheer skirts.)
The architectural waists reminded me of the armour-like suits at Balenciaga Spring 2008 but instead of completing a solid look, Galliano paired it with flowy and sheer dresses making it very romantic and elegant. This is what couture is supposed to be: Dramatic, fantastical, dreamy and beautiful. (Photos: Style.com)

Edit: Here is a wonderful behind-the-scenes video of the show from the Telegraph.

ID that dress: Halle Berry

Halle Berry was a vision in white as she toted around her beautiful Versace handbag whilst on her way out from a friend’s house in Hollywood last month. The Versace handbag is gorgeous enough, but her Yoana Baraschi origami dress is so lovely.
