Who cares about the Sex and the City movie? Let's talk about Brideshead Revisited

My mom introduced me to the British television mini-series Brideshead Revisted based on the novel by Evelyn Waugh. I fell in love with Charles Ryder, the Flytes, Aloysius (Sebastian's teddy), the English countryside and the clothes that they wore. Sebastian's scarves, his immaculate white suits, his leather gloves and his fedora probably introduced me to fashion.

So while I am excited about Sex and the City the Movie, I almost fell off my chair when I heard they were making the Brideshead series into a movie starring Emma Thompson as Lady Marchmain, Ben Whishaw as Sebastian Flyte and Matthew Goode as Charles Ryder. Although it will be hard not to compare these actors to Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews who both gave brilliant performances.

Then I saw a Vanity Fair article about the movie and the beautiful photographs that accompanied it. The clothes are beautiful; they look entirely appropriate for what the rich wore during that time period (the novel spans from the early 1920s until 1944) but it's very contemporary.

Oh.My.God. Gossip Girl rules my world

Who watched Gossip Girl last night? That had to be the most drama-filled episode I've ever seen. Here is what went down. Oh and please for the love of God do not continue reading this unless you have seen the episode or you don't care about reading the mothership of spoilers.

- Jenny's boyfriend Asher is actually gay and got outed by Jenny's brother Dan who saw Asher kissing Serena's brother Eric who got outed in front of his family by Georgina
- Blair regains her throne and Queen Bee status when she crashes Asher's and Jenny's party by revealing that Jenny lied to her friends about losing her virginity to Asher
- Georgina shows Serena a tape and we hear all the moaning and other shenanigans going on
- Rufus is still in love with Mrs. Van Der Woodson
- AND THE BIG SECRET IS FINALLY REVEALED: SERENA REVEALS TO BLAIR THAT SHE KILLED SOMEONE. OMFG!

New finds for my France trip

I'm going to France (Paris and Annecy) in June for 12 days with my boyfriend so naturally I need to buy new clothes. I had a very limited budget since I am paying for the trip and don't want to spend a lot of money before I leave. So I went to the Gap in search of summer dresses and Aldo for some sandals. Veni Vidi Vici! I found two great summer dresses; one for the day and one for evening and at Aldo I found a pair of really cute gold sandals for the days when I'm walking on cobblestone streets with my baguettes in one hand and Chanel flap in the other.

I really love the light blue against the white and the pretty paisley print.


The pleating is a nice detail.

Got these shoes at Aldo for only $50. The gold is perfect for summer and can go with a lot of colours. The only thing I am concerned about whether they will hurt my feet or not. I don't have the best experience when it comes to Aldo shoes.

Gossip Girl cast at the Met last night...and some other people too

Last night , the world's most fabulous people wearing the world's most fabulous designers, came together for the world's most fabulous party. The Met's Art Costume Institute annual gala celebrated superheroes, and the stars, models and fashion people came out in full attire.
But I was mostly interested in the Gossip Girl cast. What did they wear? Did they even talk to each other? Word has it that new castmember Michelle Trachtenberg (who plays evil Georgina) avoided the rest of the cast while on the red carpet. Also, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley are so dating in real life! Victoria Beckham...reminds me of Cruella DaVille.

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen....why didn't Hayden pull out his old Darth Vader suit? He could have covered his awful 'fro with the helmet.

Tilda Swinton...well I like her green shoes.

The Hills recap

This episode is about people taking space. Heidi is giving herself more space away from Spencer by going to Vegas and the distance between Audrina and her "roomates" Lauren and Lo grows into a wide abyss. Let's see how this happens...

- Heidi tells Brent (her "boss") that she wants to commit herself fully to Bolthouse even if that means relocating. Of course Brent has something up his sleeves and says they are expanding club Hyde to Vegas. Vegas! That's perfect for Heidi! Who knows what shenanigans she can get up to there. Best moment ever: Brent's quizzical expression after Heidi says she is
up to the challenge."

- Lauren and Lo talk about how they never see Audrina. That's because you banished her to the slave quarters and always talk about her behind her back. Bitches.

- Stephanie tells Heidi that her and Spencer "are perfect for each other." Wait, what? Hasn't Stephanie witnessed first hand at what a douchebag Spencer is? What a memory this girl has.

- I sense that Audrina is going to move out. Oh the dramz! The fact that she was not named a "mommy" to the surprise puppy is the last straw.

- Despite the highschool antics of Lauren and Lo, Audrina invites them to check out a band with her. The girls, after much pondering (shopping or hanging out with our friend?) go to the studio to check out the band...and leave promptly after about 10 seconds. You can tell Audrina is miffed.

- Best scene ever! Stephanie tells Spencer to get his lazy ass out of her apartment for good. Spencer naturally acts like the douchebag he is by putting his fingers in his ears and saying "la la la la." Jesus.

- Lauren and Lo discuss how distant Audrina seems. Maybe it's because the two of you are acting like teenagers by pointedly ignoring her and being rude.

- Heidi is on the SBE private jet *snicker* and reveals that she is more commited to the company because she doesn't have a boyfriend anymore. Sam, the owner of SBE, hits on her.

- Audrina and Justin Bobby get together and Justin actually listens and gives good advice. He tells her she should move out of her slave quarters and get her own apartment. Do it Audrina! You don't need those bitches!

- Spencer comes crawling back to his old house with Heidi (hey, homeless scenes in The Hills just wouldn't do) and discovers that she is not there. Da da DAAAAA

First look at Scarlett's ring

Ryan Reynolds (that funny guy who was engaged to Alanis Morisette) and Scarlett Johansson are engaged. It appears that Scarlett celebrated by dumping a carton full of body glitter on her (Look at the closeup of her hand.)
